During the dwell time, the period that the hot die is in contacting with the foil and part,  
heat conduction will cause the release agents and resins of the foil coating to soften.
At the time the substrate surface will begin to soften and the pressure exerted by the
machine will help the resins penetrate the molten plastic to promote thermal bonding.
